Charles Leming

Dr. Charles William Leming age 64, of Arkadelphia died Saturday August 16, 2008 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born November 5, 1943, the son of James and Verna Mae Billingsley Leming.

Dr. Leming graduated with a B.S. in physics from Eastern Illinois University, and a Ph.D. in physics from Michigan State University. He was a retired physics professor and a member of the Henderson faculty from 1970 - 2007, the Chairman of the Physics Department, and a past president of Henderson Faculty Senate. He was the author of Computational Solutions for Classical Mechanics and a contributor to the revision of Halliday & Resnick's Classical Mechanics, and many scientific articles & presentations in the U.S. & Europe. He was a member of the American Physical Society, The American Association of Physics Teachers, The Knights of Columbus, and a member of St Mary's Catholic Church. He was an avid gardener and horseman, and always active in academic pursuits. Dr. Leming was preceded in death by a sister Alice Ann Leming.

Survivors are his wife Paula Leming, one daughter Dr. Sarah Leming of Albuquerque, New Mexico, his parents James and Verna Leming of Mattoon IL, two brothers David Leming of Mattoon IL, Phillip Leming, of Edmond OK, one sister Nancee Gerould of Mattoon IL, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many loving friends and colleagues.

Services will be 2:00 pm Thursday August 21, 2008 at St Mary's Catholic Church with Father Linus Ukomadu officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Wednesday in Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home Arkadelphia. Memorials may be to the HSU Physics Scholarship Fund Box 7550, Arkadelphia, AR 71923.

Pallbearers will be Jim Duke, Tom Tobin, Joe Palmere, Terry Palmer, Dr. Jules Molere, Dr. Basil Miller, Dr. Rick McDaniel, Dr. John Hall, and Honorary Pallbearers Albert, Tommy and Rick Medlock, and Dr. Don Avery.
