Charles James

Charles E. James, Jr. of North Little Rock died Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015. He was born June 10, 1943 to Charles and Gladys James, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Rita Andrews James, and two daughters Karen James and Jennifer James Toland (Bryan). Charley graduated from NLR High School in 1961 and earned his BS degree in Accounting and Business Administration from LRU in 1966, where he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. He began his career as an accountant at Baptist Hospital and later worked for McCright, Eldridge, and Massey, CPA firm. For the last 30 years he has worked in the automobile business and travelled to GM and Ford factory auto auctions to purchase program cars for various dealers around the state. He enjoyed watching NASCAR racing, college and professional football and baseball, hunting, fishing, and spending time with family.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of 2A and ICU at Baptist Health North Little Rock, as well as Dr. Michael Stair, Dr. David Bevans III, Dr. Michael Bierle, Dr. Alex David, Dr. Jay Geoghagan, Dr. Robert Lambert and Dr. Kenneth Sauer. Active pallbearers are Jimmy Brown, Roy Browning, Robert Davis, Sammy Green, Glenn Holloway, and Tommy Toland. Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Baker, Butch Booher, Bill Eldridge, Alva Fisher, Benny Foster, Don Foster, Bobby Mayden, Allen Morgan, Price Pruitt, Tracy Rinehart, Ahmad Shahlaie, Jerry Tomlin, and John Torres.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 6-8 p.m. at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Thursday, Oct. 8, at 11 a.m. at Baring Cross Baptist Church, where he was a lifelong member. Burial will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
