Charles (Smith) Heard, 58, of Little Rock, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2008. Brother Heard was born June 30, 1949 in College Station, Arkansas. He was the third child out of seven born to the late Otis Heard and Rosetta Banks. He was baptized at an early age by Rev. P. A. Gold, and joined Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church No. 4 in College Station. He later united with Greater Grace Baptist Church in Little Rock, under the leadership of Pastor Larry L. Charles, where he remained a faithful member until his death. He attended school in Sweet Home, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his father, Otis Heard and one grandchild, Tetyuana Heard; his grandparents, George and Georgia Banks; six uncles, Walter, Charles, Willie, Chester, Robert and Henry Banks; and two aunts, Mattie and Helen Banks.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Mary Frances Harris Heard; his mother, Rosetta Banks; sons, Reginald Heard, Tony Heard, Charles Heard and Dawan (Shannon) Heard; and daughters, Nicole (Ramel) Brown, Shakimery Heard and Carla Heard. Also surviving are nineteen grandchildren; six brothers, Willie (Faye), Harry (Gladys), Carl, Alfred, Daryl and CalRay; and seven sisters, Marilyn, Sylvia, Linda (Sheldon), Judy (LeRoy), Cathy (Ron), Jackie (Harold) and Cloree.
He fought a good fight, he finished his course; and now, he has been called for a well needed rest. His door has closed on life as we know it, but he will never be forgotten.
There will be visitation Friday evening, June 27 from 6-8 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), Little Rock. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 28 at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church No. 4, 5100 Frazier Pike, College Station, Arkansas, with Pastor Larry Charles officiating.
