Charles Ellison

Charles A. Ellison, 88, of Little Rock, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 30, 2010. He was born in West Patterson, New Jersey on August 23, 1921 to the late Charles A. Ellison and Anna Rainey Ellison. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Emma Sinkinson.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 66 years, Dorothy; sister, Edna Guzzo of Manhattan Beach, California; daughter, Karen A. Stanley of Indianapolis, Indiana; son, Charles D. Ellison of Little Rock; grandson, Joshua T. Ellison, also of Little Rock; and their families and friends.
Charles served in the Navy in World War II in the Pacific and stateside, and lived most of his life in Illinois, Mississippi and Arkansas. As principal owner of Ellison Building Company, he built homes, clinics, churches, apartments and manufacturing plants.
He had many interests which led him to earn licenses and certifications as a Master Electrician and Plumber, real estate appraiser, realtor, scuba diver, airplane pilot and more. In addition, he enjoyed sailing, wood carving, drafting and architecture and the arts, such as casting bronze, leather tooling, lapidary arts, stained glass and painting using several mediums.
Services will be Thursday, June 3, at 10:30 a.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.). In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of one's choice.
