Charles "Charlie" Upton

Charles “Charlie” Upton, age 81, of Norman, passed away on Monday, September 20, 2021.

He was born on November 2, 1939, in Alice Texas, the son of James David Upton and Mary Elizabeth McGuire Upton. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Jessie Bush; his great-granddaughter, Madison Bush; his parents; three brothers, Jay Upton, Bill McGuire and Jimmy Upton; and two sisters, Dell Cates and Carolyn Upton.

He attended the Gates of Praise and Mount Calvary in Glenwood and was a truck driver for many years, working mainly in the log woods. He enjoyed gardening, loved to go fishing and was a true animal lover. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, who he dearly loved and Charlie will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife of many years, Shirley Upton of Norman; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Arthur David Upton of Oklahoma, Richard and Mary Upton of Alaska, Teddy and Lisa Smith and David and Margie Upton, all of California; two daughters and one son-in-law, Debbie Upton of California and Terra and James Bush of Caddo Gap; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Eddie and Donna Upton of California; one sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Charles Masterson of Board Camp; his special dogs, Patches, Jake and Missy; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Charlie will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 16, 2021, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home and Crematory, Glenwood.
