Charles Vincent Brocato, 65, of North Little Rock passed away Monday, March 19, 2012. He graduated from Byrd High School in 1964 with a senior letter in baseball and attended Louisiana Tech. He won All-City Center Fielder in 1964 and became a local newspaper celebrity. He was nicknamed "Scoot" by his father because he scooted across the floor in his diapers instead of walking. The newspapers thought the crowd yelled Scoop at the ball games at first and picked up on the nickname Scoot thereafter. He went into the Stud welding fastener supply business and remained in it to date. Charles loved sports and was an absolute devout Cowboy fan. One of his greatest pleasures was watching Cowboy games with his dad. After meeting Wendy, he moved to Arkansas and became a Razorback fan and loved tailgating with his family and friends. Charles loved going to the lake and boating with his family and enjoying his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Wendy Brocato, of North Little Rock; his father, Charles Paul Brocato of Maumelle, two sons, Jeff Brocato, of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Matt Brocato, of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; daughter-in-law, Katrina Brocato, of Pocola, Oklahoma; three step sons, Brian Skinner and wife, Laura, Eric Skinner and wife, Noele, of North Little Rock and Maurice Skinner and wife Stephanie, of Jeffersonville, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Adrianna, Kaitlyn and Blake Brocato, Emily Claire, Luke, Sam and Mason Skinner; and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie "Dee" Brocato and sister, Paula.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday in the North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Rest Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170. Online obituary and guest registry at www.nlrfh.com.
