Charlene Foster Hughes

Charlene Foster Hughes, age 84, of Glenwood, died Saturday, November 23, 2013. She was born on April 2, 1929 at Glenwood, the daughter of Charles Henry Foster and Cora Dickerson Foster. On May 22, 1953, she was married to R. J. Hughes who preceded her in death on February 28, 2012. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and her son-in-law, Thomas Hansen. She was a homemaker and member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by four children and their spouses, Charlie and Janis Vawter of Malvern, Lisa and Dennis Sigman of Union City, Tennessee, Katie Hughes of Carthage, Texas and Twyla and Johnny Plyler of Glenwood; eleven grandchildren and their spouses, Angela and Steven Sled, Ashley Sigman, Seth and Lindsay Sigman, Kelsey Sigman, Amy and Kreston Willeford, Matthew Turner, Morgan Turner, Adam Hansen, Raleigh Hansen, Madison Plyler and Audra and Brian Gibson; four great-grandchildren; and her special canine friend, Peanut. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, November 26, 2013 in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood with Bro. J. B. Evans officiating. Visitation will be Monday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be in the Bethel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Darrell Babbitt, Seth Sigman, Matthew Turner, Adam Hansen, Kreston Willeford and Steven Sled.
