Cecil Burt Wilkerson

Cecil Burt Wilkerson, 92, of North Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away on July 24, 2024. He was born to the late Cecil and Opal Wilkerson in 1932. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Peggy and they were married for 72 years.

Dad is survived by their three sons, Alan (Donna) of Duck River, TN; Paul (Mary) of North Little Rock; Clay of Charlottesville, VA; and a foster son, Tim Jones of Springdale, AR. 10 Grandchildren, Andrew, Aaron, Elliot, Cody, Rebecca, April, Camille and Mikaela, Alex and Amy, and the incredible blessing of 21 Great Grandchildren.

A man of faith, Dad has gained his eternal reward. We celebrate his victory in this life and his victory in Christ, our Savior.

He was a graduate of Harding University. He served ten years in the US Navy Reserves.

Burt was a husband, a father, a grandfather, a great-grandfather, a businessman, a minister, and a friend. He cherished and valued each of those roles. His greatest joy was providing well for his family and watching them grow and flourish in their faith. He cultivated many lifelong friendships through close family members, church fellowship, and business relationships.

Dad and Mom led an active life, enjoying time on the water, at the lake, in the mountains, skiing and traveling, and following the Razorbacks. Together, they completed many church mission trips abroad and while he served as an elder, minister, and teacher at Churches of Christ throughout Arkansas, including Jacksonville, Levy Church in North Little Rock, Jerusalem, and Oak Grove.

Christian education was a priority in Dad’s life, and he served on the board of Central Arkansas Christian School during its formative years.

He spent his working years in the family farm equipment business in North Little Rock. In his later years, he followed his passion for serving the Lord as a full-time minister. He also had a passion for aviation, enjoying many hours piloting his airplane, “The Yellow Bird.”

The family wishes to express our gratefulness to the wonderful folks at Hospice Home Care and Good Shepherd Nursing and Rehab for their loving care of our Dad.

We’re also thankful for the compassion and care of the Smith Family Funeral Homes and Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Visitation is scheduled for July 31 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 1:30, held at Smith Funeral Home, 1921 Main St. NLR, AR. 72114.
