Cecil Whittington

Cecil George Whittington, 84, of Sherwood, Arkansas, went to his heavenly home on June 21, 2023. He was born in Eudora, Arkansas on November 15, 1938, to the late Hamp and Jewel Whittington of Eudora. He was welcomed to Heaven by his parents, his beloved grandson Jason Luke “Lukie” Cain, his brothers Desmond Whittington, Roy Whittington, Bobby Whittington, Troy Whittington, and his sisters Laverne Stepp and June Hallman.

Cecil was known for being a family man and a business owner. After marrying his wife and having his three children, he would then open his life business, the Texaco Station on Hwy 82 in Lake Village, Arkansas. This would be where he raised his children and made many friends and memories. He enjoyed taking spontaneous road trips with his family and friends; just riding along the country making memories brought him such joy. You could catch him often watching the Arkansas Razorbacks and cheering them on. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing the guitar and always continued his love for music.  He was known for telling stories and making people laugh; he would always have an audience around him listening.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Peggy Whittington; daughter Cindy Roberson of Maumelle, Arkansas, sons George (Rob) Whittington of Sherwood, Arkansas, Shane Whittington (Jennifer Wilson) of Sherwood, Arkansas, grandson Zachary Whittington (Nikki Wood) of Lonoke, Arkansas, granddaughter Blair (Russell) Ginn of Cabot, Arkansas; and great grandchildren Hunter, Hallie, Hampton and Hazley Ginn of Cabot, Arkansas; a sister Maxine DeAngelo of Bedford, Texas; a sister-in-law Barbara Whittington of Lake Village; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m., followed by Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m.  on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, 404 W.
