Cecil (C. E.) Free, 85, of Beebe, Arkansas, was born August 5, 1923, at Romance, Arkansas, to Elmer and Mattie Free, and he died January 17, 2008, at Searcy, Arkansas. Cecil retired from Central of Georgia Railway, owned and operated the downtown Beebe Exxon Service Station for many years and was a retired cattle farmer. Cecil was a 32nd Degree Mason and member of the Mount Hermon Lodge in Georgia. Cecil was a people person and never met a stranger. He had many wonderful friends and his special little dog Candy, whom he loved very much. I would like to thank the girls that work at the College Inn and Box Car restaurants in Beebe, especially Georgia (now retired) for the special care; he loved you all very much. And last, but not least, his daily caregiver, Nancy, whom Cecil would say he wouldn't take a nickel for; he appreciated and loved you very much.
Cecil was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Free; one son, Edward Free; his parents; two sisters, Etheldra Rushin and Ethel Bailey; and brother, Arda Free. He is survived by his son, Kenneth Free (Gloria) of Beebe; two daughters, Linda Bunch of Temecula, California and Brenda Hefner (Phil) of Little Rock; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
