Cathryn Melton

Cathryn Rogers Melton, age 83 of Arkadelphia died Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009 in Hot Springs. She was born May 24, 1925 at Beirne, AR the daughter of Lynch "Doc" and Nancy Adeline Selph Brown. She was a retired Cosmetologist, Dorm Mom at Ouachita Baptist University and a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Arkadelphia.

Cathryn's servant heart has touched countless lives in Arkadelphia. She was the type who arrived at just the right time with home-cooked food, who offered to do laundry, or simply was a consoling presence. Angels live among us and she was one of them. She was a mother of steadfast love, a friend of unflagging spirit and of unparalleled devotion. Her absence here, however, means her presence with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Eugene "Jeep" Melton and his children, one son Danny Melton of Rogers, AR, three daughters, Jean Andrews of San Antonio, TX, Brenda Manning of Arkadelphia, AR, and Donna Harris of El Dorado, AR, Cathryn's children, two sons, Roger Rogers of Amity, AR and Stan Rogers of Wichita, KA, and one daughter, Robyn Rogers of Cody, WY, two sisters, Elizabeth Gates of Malvern, AR and Nancy Yarbrough of Hot Springs, AR and one half sister Betty Tidwell of Lake Charles, LA, 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

Funeral services will be 10 A.M. Tuesday in the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Chapel with Dr. Lee McGlone and Snookie Dixon officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
