Cathern Marie Wilkins, 84, of North Little Rock, passed away June 18, 2008. She was born May 8, 1924, in Hartman, AR to John and Lucy Hampton Laster. She retired as general manager of the North Little Rock Electric Department after 33 years of service with the city. She was a faithful Member of First Baptist Church in Sherwood as long as her health allowed.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Aubrey Wilkins, and infant daughter, Norma Jean Wilkins, a brother, Norman Laster and a sister, Dorothy Forsyth. She is survived by her daughters: Carolyn (Toney) Abbott, and Janet (Steve) Holmes of Cabot; and son Steven (Charmaine) Wilkins of Kingwood, TX; twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by two sisters, Cookie Brown of Benton and Ann Hines of Sherwood, three sisters-in-law; Lois Laster of Kansas, Margie Herman of California, and Emmy Dunlap of Texas, and many nieces, nephews and special friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Jun 21st at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Sherwood with burial in Sumner Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 20th at the North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170. Online obituary and guest register at www.nlrfh.com.
