Catherine Thomey

Catherine Clark Engel Thomey passed away Monday, September 23, 2013, preceded in death by her parents Robert and Martha Clark; sisters, Rosa Meta Edwards of New Jersey, Martha Lee Morgan of North Little Rock and Elizabeth Ann Mathews of North Carolina. She graduated from North Little Rock High School in 1957. She was a member of Central Baptist Church for most of her life and a member of the Martha Fellowship Sunday School Class. Catherine loved singing in the choir. She was an employee of the Arkansas State Board of Nursing for over 28 years, retiring in 2000.
Survivors are her husband, James; three sons and one stepson, Mike Engel (Sue Anne), Pat Engel (Gigi) and Bruce Engel of North Little Rock, Deane Thomey (Melissa) of Fayetteville; and one daughter Joan Smith (Keith) of Booneville; sixteen grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces, especially Clark and Peggy Morgan. Catherine had a lot of loving and caring friends, especially Betty Carroll and Cathy Cook.
Funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Central Baptist Church, 5200 Fairway, North Little Rock, officiated by Brother Wyman Richardson. Visitation will be at 10:30 AM, an hour before the service. Burial will be at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, North Little Rock, Arkansas with North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main, North Little Rock.
Memorials can be made to the Cancer Society or Central Baptist Church in lieu of flowers. The family wishes to thank the UAMS Medical Oncology Department, the staff of the Surgical floor at Baptist Springhill Medical Center and Springhill Rehab, Baptist Home Health and Arkansas Hospice.
