Catherine Jo Peyer Katilius, of Carterville, IL, 58, died Saturday, June 6, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband Martin Wayne Katilius on September 27, 2013. They both were originally from Little Rock, Arkansas. They were married for 35 years. Survivors include sons, Daniel Stanley Katilius and his wife Elisabeth Miller and Christopher Martin Katilius; a brother, James Robert Peyer of Maumelle, AR; a sister, Jean Ann Peyer Patterson of Brentwood, TN; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Therese Peyer and a sister, Mary Therese Peyer Wood.
Cathy graduated from Mount Saint Mary's Academy in 1974. After their marriage they lived in various cities - Lancaster, Texas; Fort Smith, AR; Maumelle, AR; Rogers, AR; and Carterville, IL. Cathy was a very loving and giving person who never met a stranger. She was a Stephens minister for the Catholic Church, a caregiver for the elderly, both in her occupation and in her volunteering at various nursing facilities and VA hospitals. Cathy was also an accomplished poet and published author. Her book, "As God Speaks" is a book of "poetry of hope and healing".
Visitation will be on Thursday, June 11 at 5pm with a rosary at 6pm at Smith - North Little Rock Funeral Home. There will be a funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church on Friday, June 12, at 10am. Graveside services will be at Calvary Cemetery.
