Cartis Mason, age 59 of Jacksonville, Arkansas, passed away November 1, 2015 at St. Vincent Hospice in Little Rock. He was born February 17, 1956, in Dumas, Arkansas; and he was the son of Roy. V. Mason and Alveline Mason.
Cartis was an auto technician for Fletcher Dodge for ten years, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Gravel Ridge. Those who were closest to Cartis would tell you that he was a man who loved life and helping others out in any way he could; he was a generous man, who never met a stranger. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, racing and relaxing on the Arkansas River, and will be remembered for being a true fighter, all the way to the end.
He is preceded in death by his parents Roy V. Mason and Alveline Byerly Mason, and a brother William "Buck" Mason.
Survivors include his children Sara Mason, Steven Mason and Heath Mason; step-daughters, Jennifer Ryion, Amanda Jones and an adopted daughter, Samantha Polomsky; a granddaughter Stephanie Mason and his brothers Roy Mason Jr., Ray Mason; sisters Elizabeth Buell, Sue Roebuck, Minnie McDougale, Scheldia Fugate, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Huson Funeral Home Chapel at 7700 Highway 107, Sherwood, Arkansas, with a graveside service following at noon, at Nicholson Cemetery in Tamo, Arkansas.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at Huson Funeral Home in Sherwood.
