Carthel Dyson

Carthel "Ray" Dyson, 66, of North Little Rock passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2016. He was born October 9, 1949 in Beebe, Arkansas to Charlie and LeVon Taylor Dyson.
Ray served in the U.S. Navy River Patrol force for two tours in Vietnam where he performed his duties as a machine gunner on a small four man boat team. He was awarded the Bronze Star, the Navy Commendation Medal for Valor, the Purple Heart for combat wounds he received, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry and others. He worked in the automobile business in Little Rock and North Little Rock for over 25 years.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary (Cooper) Dyson; daughter, Jessica Miller (Bo); son, Eric Dyson; granddaughter, Garland Miller; grandson, William Miller; mother, LeVon Dyson; brothers, Danny and Timmy Dyson; and numerous extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Dyson; brothers, Charles and Jerry Dyson; and sister, Melinda Dyson.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, March 7 at Smith - North Little Rock Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Dunkard Cemetery in Austin, Arkansas.
