Carthal Oakley

On April 4, 2015, Carthal Ray "C.R." Oakley made his joyous entrance into heaven, leaving behind his earthbound body that no longer allowed him to do the things he wanted to do.

He was born June 15, 1936, in El Paso, Arkansas, one of six children born to Quince and Opal Oakley. Carthal was very active in the community. He served honorably as a Justice of the Peace, a member of the White County Road Commission and on the board of the Beebe Public Schools. Carthal served on the 911 committee and was instrumental in ensuring the safety of White County residents by updating White County 911 Services. He operated a farm outside of Beebe and at one time owned a grocery store in Beebe, Arkansas.

He was a member of Union Valley Baptist Church in Beebe, Arkansas and served as a deacon and many other ways honoring the Lord. For the past eleven years he was a member of First Baptist Church, Morrilton, Arkansas.

He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Bobbie Ruth (Quick) Oakley; two sons, Chris Oakley (Penny), of Morrilton, Arkansas, Lance Oakley (Amanda), of Mulberry, Arkansas; one sister, Carolyn Sarringer (George), of Greenville, Mississippi; five grandchildren, Shannon McArthur, Jennifer Rogers, Kayla Fillinger, Cara Amaya and Aaron Oakley; ten great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Brookridge Cove Nursing Home in Morrilton, Arkansas and to Arkansas Hospice Home Care for the wonderful and loving care they gave to Carthal and the family.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Union Valley Baptist Church, with Funeral Service to follow at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Grissard Cemetery in El Paso, Arkansas. Arrangements by Smith - Westbrook Funeral Home. www.SmithFamilyCares.com
