Carrie Lucille Cairns, of Little Rock, beloved wife of the late James M. "Buck" Cairns, devoted mother and dear friend to many, passed away June 28, 2010 at the age of 91. She was born August 14, 1918 at the family farm in Perry County. Lucy later moved to Little Rock where she met the love of her life, nurtured her family and became a devoted member of Pulaski Heights Presbyterian Church.
Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, Wylie and Mattie Bessellieu, brother, William and sister, Mattie. She is survived by and will be greatly missed by her daughters and their husbands, Gail and David Lowery of Maumelle and Jana and Dr. Dan Bradford of Rogers; grandchildren, J.D. Lowery and wife, Jennifer Lowery of Maumelle, Devin Lowery of Longview, Texas, Will Bradford and Taylor Bradford of Rogers. She also had a son, James M. Cairns, Jr.
Lucy's appetite for love, desire to give and sense of right and wrong served as the core of what sustained her family throughout her life. As her family continues their efforts to live in this light, her memory will forever be preserved.
There will be a visitation on Friday, July 2, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), where family and friends are welcome to visit and share stories about Lucy's influence on their lives. A graveside service and burial will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander.
