Carolyn Stotts

Carolyn Jackson Stotts went to be with her Lord on December 9, 2018, her family at her bedside. She was born in Little Rock on May 29, 1935 to James Bayless Jackson and Willamae Owens Jackson. The family moved to Denver, Colorado when she was young in order for her father to advance with the Missouri Pacific Railroad. They moved back to Little Rock after her father's diagnosis of multiple sclerosis.

Carolyn worked alongside her aunt, uncle and mother at the Credit Bureau as a teenager. She was proud to say she was the first teenager in Little Rock to earn a dollar an hour! Carolyn graduated from Little Rock High School, where she was a Gold Jacket and sang in the choir. She attended Hendrix College and then UAMS. While attending classes for medical technology certification, she met a handsome medical student, John Stotts. They married in 1957. Carolyn was a homemaker for her husband and three children, Leslie, Chris and Allyson. She and John were long time members of St. James United Methodist Church. They chaperoned for years of handbell choir trips for their children's bell choirs. Carolyn was a member of UMW and attended numerous Bible studies throughout her lifetime. She was also a member of the Medical Auxiliary.

Carolyn was predeceased by her parents, her daughter, Allyson Lamb, and her aunt and uncle, William and Nora Arendt. She is survived by her husband, Dr. John Stotts, son, Chris Stotts (Pamela) and daughter, Leslie Layton (Rick). She also leaves behind four loving grandchildren, John Robert Stotts, Melanie Pickering, Lauren Pickering and Hope Layton, her son-in-law, Todd Lamb; and step-grandchildren, Grant Jenkins,, Addison Bunch and Ryan Layton.

The family would like to thank Dr. Dean Kumpuris, Briarwood Rehab, First Choice Home Care and Hospice Home Care for their compassionate attention to our loved one.

Services will be held on Thursday, December 13 at 2:00 p.m. at St. James United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Greg Schick. Memorials may be made to the Church, 321 Pleasant Valley Dr., Little Rock, AR 72212.
