Carolyn Schaufele
Carolyn Cosgrove Schaufele, age 90, passed away peacefully after spending a wonderful Thanksgiving with her family.
She was instrumental in starting Reach to Recovery for breast cancer survivors. She was a member of the Fine Arts Club, the Aesthetic Club, and a volunteer at the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute. She grew up at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral and was an active member of Second Presbyterian. Serving others was her greatest joy, from delivering flowers to shut-ins to housing cancer patients in her home.
Her active years included golf (she had 4 holes in one), traveling with her husband, and enjoying mahjong and bridge when she had to slow down.
Although her family will miss her they take comfort in knowing that she is with her husband of 63 years.
She is survived by her two sons, Mike Schaufele (Marty) and Lou Schaufele (Lee), 5 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Second Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, December 3rd at 1:30 pm.
