Carolyn Sue Lovelady died September 2, 2024. She was born in Stoney Point, Arkansas on July 17, 1943, to James and Rena Darnell. She graduated from Beebe High School in 1961 and went to ASU-Beebe where she met her husband of 62 years Vernon Rex Lovelady who preceded her in death on August 25, 2020.
She was the owner of Lovely Lady Hair Fashions for over 50 years. While giving a perm one day her son Rex asked her what that smell was and she said, “That’s Money Honey!”. She knew everything her boys did before they did it. It was hard getting anything by her with having that beauty shop in the house.
She was well known for her yeast rolls, and we were fortunate enough to be able to make a video of her making those rolls last year. However, we have been unable to reproduce them so far and we think she added something when we were not looking. She had the most beautiful handwriting, which she did not pass on to her boys. She also had a way with words and loved sending notes and cards to her friends that really made them feel special.
She loved the Arkansas Razorbacks and traveling with her life-long friends, Sandra Garrett, Frankie Jackson, Lora Jackson and Julie Jackson on flea marketing trips throughout the country. She also loved the Beebe Badgers and she and Vernon could not have picked a better community in which to help them raise their two boys into the men they are today.
Surviving her are brother Jim (Kitty) Darnell of Conway, and one sister Barbara (Jimmy) Paul of North Little Rock; two sons Rex (Stephanie) of Conway, Jeff (Deanna) of Romance; four grandchildren, Grey (Theresa) Lovelady of Perryville, Garrett (Teal) Lovelady of Conway, Charlsey (Kyle) Hillis of Greenbrier, and Victoria (Justin) Burlison of Romance; and five great grandchildren, Henley Hillis, Magnolia and Rosemary Lovelady, Piper Lovelady and Waylon Burlison.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Beebe Public Education Foundation in memory of Vernon and Carolyn Lovelady, c/o Beebe High School, 1201 W Center St. Beebe, AR 72012.
Visitation will begin at 10:30am Saturday, with a memorial service to follow at 12:00pm at Beebe First United Methodist Church, 302 N Main St., Beebe, AR 72012. Casual Dress.
