Carolyn Vanderslice Lewis age 76, of the Brown Springs Community near Arkadelphia passed away Sunday, June 22, 2014 at her home. She was born June 25, 1937 in Donaldson ( Hot Spring Co.), Arkansas to Eva Bell (Witherspoon) and Horace Kenneth Vanderslice.
Carolyn graduated from Ouachita High School in Donaldson and received her B.S. from Henderson State Teachers College in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
She began her teaching career with Lockhart ISD in Lockhart (Caldwell), Texas in the fall of 1964, and retired, in 2003, after teaching in the same school district, for thirty-nine years.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Winston Larry Vanderslice and husbands, Oscar Lentz, James "Jim Hamlett and William "Bill" Lewis.
Left to cherish her memory are her brother, Gary Vanderslice (Mary); nephew, Phillip Vanderslice, nieces, Angela Livingston and Laura Ratzel; three grand-nephews, three grand-nieces and many dear friends.
Services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 24th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia with Bro. Hollis McDermott officiating. Interment will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery at Joan. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
