Glenda "Carolyn" Short Evans received her heavenly promotion on Friday, January 28, 2011. She was born July 10, 1940 in Glenwood, Arkansas to the late Herman and Elice Marsh Short. She was married on May 20, 1960 to J. B. Evans. A lifelong follower of Christ, she was a member of Sunshine Church of the Nazarene. She served in many capacities of ministry throughout her life; a Sunday School teacher, children's church worker, choir member, and pastor's wife. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, friend and the best Nana in the universe. She is survived by her loving husband of over 50 years, J.B. Evans of Hot Springs; three sons, Jeff (Kati) and Greg (Kelly) of Glenwood, and Tim (Karen) of Alexander, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Keith (Jordan) Bledsoe, Ashleigh Evans, Randy (Lindi) Alexander, Karyn (Josh) Lowery, Daniel Alexander, Josiah Evans and Emma Evans; seven great-grandchildren, Samantha, Brittany, Blade and Brian Graves, Garrett and Eli Alexander, and Presley Grace Bledsoe; two great-great grandchildren; one brother, James (Ann) Short of Hot Springs; two sisters, Marilyn Taylor of Abilene, Texas and Sharon (David, Sr.) Rose of Hot Springs; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Glenwood First Church of the Nazarene. A service celebrating her life will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, February 2, 2010 in the Glenwood First Church of the Nazarene with the Revs. Russell Branstetter, Wally Beckman, Phil Hull, Sr. and Paul Holderfield, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the Mount Tabor Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Randy Alexander, Daniel Alexander, Josh Lowery, Keith Bledsoe, Josiah Evans, Gene Short, Don Taylor, and David Rose, Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorials can made to Sunshine Church of the Nazarene, Glenwood First Church of the Nazarene, Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene or the Anmarie Bailey Lung Transplant fund at First National Bank of Hot Springs.
