Carolyn Ruth Barron, 80, of North Little Rock died Wednesday, April 6, 2011. She was born September 9, 1930 in North Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Houston and Leona Rouse Whitfield. She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church and was very active in church and choir. Carolyn was also a past member of the Sweet Adelines. She was retired from Veterans Administration Hospital in Little Rock.
She is survived by her husband, of 62 years, Thomas F. Barron; two sons, Michael Barron and wife, Cindy and John Barron and wife, Cathy, all of North Little Rock; two daughters, Elizabeth Stricklin, of Maumelle and Melody McBride and husband, Mike, of Memphis; eight grandchildren, Andrea Heintzen, Morgan and Alicia Barron, Joshua, Joseph and Jonathan Stricklin, Jessica Pauley and Carly McBride; and five great-grandchildren, Jaden and Jakob Heintzen, Cameron and Elizabeth Stricklin and Gavin Pauley.
Memorials may be made to St. Anne Catholic Church, 6150 Remount Road, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72118.
Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church. Burial will be in Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. A rosary service will be held 6:00 p.m., Sunday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170. Online obituary and guest registry at www.nlrfh.com.
