Carole Sue Maxwell

Carole Sue Wester Maxwell, 76, of Sherwood, passed away peacefully May 4, 2022, surrounded by family. She was born December 30, 1945, in Jonesboro, Ark., to the late G. W. and Marcella Dodson Wester.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jackie Maxwell; brother-in-law, James “Doc”George; and nephew, Tuney “Trey” Bailey, III. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughter, Kim (Chuck) Lydick; grandson, Connor Lydick; sister, Janelle George; sister, Melissa (Mike) Graham; stepdaughter, Kelley (Bob) Carter; their children, Sarah (Mike) Testa; and Chris Carter; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives.

Volunteering in the hospital gift shop was one of my mom’s greatest pleasures. She volunteered at BHMC-NLR for 27 years. Mom loved watching Wheel of Fortune and seldom missed an episode. There could be just one letter up on the board and she would shout out the answer. It was amazing! She was also an incredible crossword puzzle solver. The harder the better! She also loved to read.

The best part of my mom was the love she had for everyone. She never met a stranger and greeted everyone with a warm smile, her lips adorned with her signature red lipstick. Her greatest joy was being Grammy to Connor.

Visitation will be from 6:00PM-8:00PM Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Smith-Sherwood Funeral Home (7700 Hwy 107). A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00AM Thursday, May 12, 2022 at the funeral home.
