Carol Ann Livingston, 83, of North Little Rock passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018. She was born March 12, 1934 in Hot Springs, Arkansas to William and Estelle Seaton.
She is survived by her husband of sixty four years, Phillip Vaughn Livingston; children, Kari Carney, Doug Livingston, and Leah Turner; grandchildren, Erin and Devin Carney, Ally and Zac Livingston, Lindsey Wolfer, Grace, Emma and Jake Turner; four great-grandchildren; brother, Bill Seaton; and sister, Dee Addie. She was preceded in death by her parents, including Paul Maynard.
Carol Ann Seaton, or "Addie" as she was called by most everyone, was born on March 12, 1934. Her mother was Estelle and her father was William. Her father died when Addie was 3 years old. She has an older brother Bill and an older sister Dee. She was partly raised by "Granny" whom she loved very much.
She attended Catholic school and this left many personal memories, most of which were not pleasant. Her happiest day there was when she threw up on the Priest's shoes. Doesn't that sound like Addie?
She was a cheerleader in public school and had many friends and admirers, including Phil who worked after school at a grocery store close to her house and having seen her in the neighborhood offered her a ride to school one day that changed their destiny forever.
Addie and Phil got married while he was in the Navy. They lived in Norman, Oklahoma; Corpus Christi, Texas; and Chincoteague, Virginia. After Phil was discharged, they returned to Arkansas and Phil attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. During this period, daughter Kari Dee was born.
Following graduation, the family moved to Eunice, Louisiana. Phil was employed by John Deere and called on dealers in southwest Louisiana and Addie settled into home making. While in Eunice, she became pregnant and gave birth to son, Douglas Shay. Things went well and eventually Phil decided to return to the U of A and pursue a graduate degree in Psychology.
Another move following graduation returned the family to Little Rock where Phil was employed with the Arkansas State Hospital and Addie focused on raising her growing family.
Phil, Addie and the family remained in Little Rock and North Little Rock for the rest of her years.
Addie was a great cook and homemaker and was surprised to deliver baby number 3, her second daughter, Leah Ashley. She was 10 years younger than her brother and 13 years younger than her sister.
Over the years to come, Addie ended up with 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. All of them could tell some entertaining "Addie" stories.
Addie was happy being a homemaker. She loved reading mystery novels and painting pictures, many of which are still admired. She liked to sew, knit, and decorate with her friend MaryLane. She also did her share of babysitting. She loved to go to the lake in Hot Springs, visit flea markets, and shop at the mall.
Addie was honest to a fault. Don't ask her how she likes your new hair-do unless you were prepared for her unedited answer.
During Addie's illness over the past several years there have been many acts of kindness from complete strangers. People would open doors, smile and give hugs to her and offer encouragement and love. They could probably see inside to the lovable person that she was.
She was loved dearly by her family and those who knew her and will be missed very much by all of us. She will be in our thoughts and hearts forever.
