Carol Fay Pounds, age 72, of Kirby, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 31, 2020.
She was born on June 1, 1948, in Glenwood, the daughter of Woodroe James Cogburn and Alpha Pauline “Bobby” Duggan Cogburn. On February 7, 1969, she was married to Doyle Pounds. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two nephews, Matt Turner and Jason Rhodes.
Carol worked at the Kirby High School cafeteria for over twelve years. Afterward, she started babysitting for many children in the community and she loved all of them as much as they loved her. She was a devout member of the Caney Valley Missionary Baptist Church where she taught the little children about Jesus Christ for over forty years. Carol loved caring for all children especially her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She enjoyed her flowers and spending time with her sister and brothers.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-one years, Doyle Pounds of Kirby; her sons and daughter-in-law, Jayson Pounds of Kirby and Brian and Melinda Pounds of Langley; her grandchildren, Taylor Pounds, Karter Pounds, Kaleb Pounds and Kinsley Pounds; her sister and brother-in-law, Reva and Dean Turner of Newhope; her brothers and sister-in-law, Billy and Teresa Cogburn of Kirby, Larry Cogburn of Glenwood and Buddy Cogburn of Newhope; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; her nieces and nephews; and many friends and her church family.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM, Tuesday, January 5, 2021, in the Caney Valley Cemetery with Bro. Keith Howell officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
Pallbearers will be David Whisenhunt, Richard Ray, Randy Pounds, Karter Castleberry, Bobby Lock and Kevin Alexander.
