Carl Lusty was born at home in Vilonia, Arkansas on July 21, 1942. He passed away peacefully at home in Austin, Arkansas on May 2, 2022 and would have been 80 years old in July. He was married to his wife Claudette on November 16, 1963 (58 years).
Poppy, as he was called by his family, was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved antiques, from his clocks to his precious antique cars. You could always find him on Father’s Day weekend at the antique car show at Petit Jean Mountain. He loved to read and study genealogy. When something came up missing at the house he would say, “It must have been the aliens.” He had a true fascination with UFOs. Carl never sat idle and always had a project going, whether it be fixing a lawnmower or remodeling a house. He also had a talent for fixing the machines at Remington Arms where he retired after thirty years. You had to be a little thick skinned if you were around him very much because Poppy didn’t mind taking a playful jab at anyone. In later years when Carl found his Jesus, he was very bold about sharing his faith.
He was preceded in death by his mom and dad, Jim and Betty Lusty; three sisters and one brother; and a granddaughter, Felicia Lusty Jones. He is survived by his wife Claudette; his son Kevin (Mary), and daughter Alicia Pritchard (Aaron); grandchildren Vannette Stover (Anthony), Dakota Kramer, Shyloh Pritchard; and great grandchildren Bayleigh Jones, Kayden Jones, Lesley Jones, Lysander Stover and Quita Stover; his brother Roy Bulice, and sister Mary Nadine Lechner.
We want to give special thanks to the Hospice team that took such good care of Poppy for the past three years, especially Melissa, Christina, and Sasha. We also want to thank dear Brother Ben for his faithfulness to visit with Carl during this time.
