Carley Oliver

Carley Chloe Oliver age 89, passed on April 26, 2016, to be with her beloved Savior Jesus Christ and the many loved ones who preceded her. She was born on August 13, 1926 in Tokio, Arkansas, to Lloyd and Clytie Dickey. She grew up near Murfreesboro, and was a devout Christian who never wavered in her faith. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. She read the entire Bible more than once.

Carley was married to her husband, Dr. Kelly H. Oliver, Jr., for over 50 years, until his death in 1999. Together, and with their sons, they pursued careers in public education that took them to many locations around the country. She attended Henderson State Teachers College in Arkadelphia and graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science degree. She taught science in Arkadelphia, Sheridan and Friendship, and in Florida. She loved to camp, play cards, and read. She loved talking with people and truly never met a stranger. She claimed at one time to have a license to kill teenagers. As far as it's known, she never used that license! She was an intelligent and outspoken as well as loving and generous with family and friends. You always knew what was on her mind!

Carley is survived by her sons: Mark (Cecilie) and Rush (Brenda); three grandchildren: Linden (Alan) Boyd, Adam Oliver, and Jackie Kizer; two great grandchildren: Cristina (Jacob) Deputy and Kathy Jacobs; and three great great grandchildren; Dallas, Patton, Olivia Deputy. She was preceded in death by her two sisters: Alliene (Alton) Cooley and Jackie (Wade) Sublett.

The family expresses its heartfelt appreciation for the staff of Twin Rivers Health and Rehabilitation in Arkadelphia who were the caregivers of her last few years. They were loving, respectful, and knowledgeable and provided great comfort to her.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of choice.
