He was one of the founding board members for the North Little Rock Handicapped Services which was later absorbed by the ARC. His tenure with both boards was 35 years. His love for North Little Rock led him to volunteer for the city Board of Adjustments where he served for 30 years.
Over the years he served as Executive Director of the Non-Commissioned Officers’ Association of the Army National Guard of Arkansas, the Arkansas Jewelers’ Association, and the Arkansas Air Conditioners’ Association. Upon retirement, Carl accepted the position of Executive Director of the Riverbend Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center where he remained for seven years.
Through their married years, Carl and Kathy RV’d and traveled to all 50 states accompanied by their fur babies, Sophie and Barney. Carl also loved to work in his yard, where he spent many of his retired days. He liked to say he could grow everything except grass.
