Carl E. Garrett, age 78, of Arkadelphia, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2017. He was born on February 21, 1939, in Phoenix, Arizona, the son of Millard and Lavaughn Hunter Garrett. On December 20, 1997, he was married to Julia Fendley. He was preceded in death by his parents; his children, Robert Chapman Garrett, Karol DeWayne Garrett and Daron Garrett; one great-grandchild, Remington Gene Steele; and one brother, Bobby Karol Garrett. He was a member of the Trinity Assembly of God Church in Arkadelphia; for over 12 years he took several managerial courses in business and institutions; and retired as Industrial Construction Project Manager for Kellogg and Brown & Root in Houston, Texas. Carl enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, visiting and exploring the countryside, particularly state and national recreation parks, including the Sequa Ro Desert in Tucson, Arizona, when the desert was in full bloom. He also enjoyed camping, fishing on De Gray Lake, and listening to good gospel and country music. He is survived by his wife, Julia Annett Garrett of Arkadelphia; three sons and daughters-in-law, Darrell "Levi" and Rhonda Garrett of Jacksonville, Florida, Faron Blake and Pam Garrett of Orangefield, Texas, DeWayne "Dee" and Anette Garrett of Valiant, Oklahoma; one daughter and son-in-law, Carla Ann and Bob Jones of Pottsville; his daughter-in-law, Michelle Garrett of Nashville; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Wanda and Richard Knight of Arkadelphia, Letha and Billy Bishop of Foreman; Barbara Wofford of Arkadelphia, Betty and Carroll Rogers of Curtis and Phyllis Halstead of Bismarck; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of wonderful friends. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, June 2, 2017, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. David Walker and Bro Rick Mays officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM., at the funeral home. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
