Carl Carpenter, 88, of Little Rock passed away Friday, March 13, 2015. He was born August 10, 1926 in Lonoke County, Arkansas to Decatur and Ruth Faulkner Carpenter. He retired from Union Pacific Railroad, was a Deacon at Faith Baptist Church and a longtime former member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. Carl enjoyed fishing, hunting, any babies but especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Carpenter; daughters, Shelia Kalinowski (Bob) of Hot Springs, Marilyn Boykin (Bo) of Colorado, Margaret McLaughlin (Phil) of Benton and Carlene Mueller (Art) of Dallas; grandchildren, Jim Davis, Bobby (Brandy) Hughes, Nathan (Kristen) McLaughlin, Brad (Bethany) McLaughlin, Michelle (Chuck) McClintic, Ashley Mueller and Adam Mueller; five great-grandchildren, Brooklynn Hughes, Bailey Hughes, Presleigh McLaughlin, Jett McLaughlin and Kara McClintic; step-daughter, Michelle McLelland (John) and two step-grandchildren, Samuel and Sarah McLelland. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife and mother of his children, Leola Conder Carpenter; second wife, Olena Phillips Carpenter and his siblings, R.L. Carpenter, Birl Carpenter, Elizabeth Webb, Ann Douglas, Richard Carpenter, Ben Carpenter, Dorothy Carr, infant twin brothers and Alberta Carpenter.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, 17201 Arch Street, Little Rock. Burial will be in Landmark Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday at Smith - North Little Rock Funeral Home. Online obituary at www.SmithFamilyCares.com .
