C.B. Blassingame, 91, of Ward, Arkansas passed away Saturday, October 22, 2011. He was retired from the U.S. Navy and Union Pacific Railroad. He was a Chief Petty Officer and a cook on the USS Enterprise where he was known as "Pappy". He served proudly in World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam.
He is survived by his daughters, Mary Ann Blassingame, of Ward, Bertie Mae Morgan, of Houston, Arkansas, Doris Jean Jackson, of Bryant, Inez Howell, of Maumelle and Modina Robinson, of Little Rock; fifteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; fourteen great-great-grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and close personal friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton Barnett and Lillian May LeMaster Blassingame; daughter, Winnie Mae Rice Walker; son, Mansfield Harvey Rice, Jr.; wife, of 42 years, Dorothy Mae Riffle Blassingame; grandson, Junior Leness Walker; great-granddaughter, Melissa Dawn Myers; and two brothers, Billy Fay Blassingame and David Wilkerson Blassingame.
There will be a graveside service at the Arkansas State Veteran's Cemetery on Maryland Ave. in North Little Rock, Arkansas on Monday, October 31, at 11:00 a.m. with full military honors.
