Bruce E. Self

Bruce E. Self, age 61, of Kirby, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2020, at his home. He was born on July 4, 1958 in Nashville, Arkansas, the son of Glynn O. Self and Betty Sue Dingler Self. He was preceded in death by his father. On September 1, 1979, he was married to Norma Bailey. Bruce was a poultry and cattle farmer. He was a member and served as a deacon of the Salem Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching stock car races. He is survived by his wife, Norma Self; his children and their spouses, Dana and Kyle Cowart, Randee Reid and Cody and Adi Self; his mother, Betty Sue Self, all of Kirby; six grandchildren, Dodge Cowart, Kallee Cowart, Kaitlen Reid, Lakota Reid, Emory Self, Audrey Self` and another grandson on the way, Bruce Landry Self; two brothers and their spouses, Gary and Kathy Self of Benton and Wayne and Susan Self of Batesville; one sister and her spouse, Mechelle and Greg Smith of Kirby; and his nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, February 3, 2020, in the Salem Landmark Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Melvin Markham and Bro. Kyle Cowart officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Ebenezer Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Cody Self, Ronnie Whisenhunt, Dewight Mack, Dewayne Mack, Hardie Reynolds, Todd Ray and Randy Jester. Honorary pallbearers will be the Kirby High School Class of 1976.
