Brian Hickman

Brian Horton Hickman, 46, left this life on December 6, 2020 at his home in North Little Rock, Arkansas.  Brian was born in Harrison, Arkansas on November 15, 1974 and graduated from Harrison High School in 1993. He married the love of his life, April, on November 2, 2013, and they went on to share 7 years of love, laughter, and a host of exciting adventures before his passing.  Brian loved baseball (go Cubs!), enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was an active member of the Faulkner County Amateur Radio Club (call sign K5BHH).  Brian loved giving back to his community and had volunteered at Arkansas Children’s Hospital and the Salvation Army as well as serving for several years as a Reserve Deputy with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office.

Anyone who knew Brian knew he loved to laugh more than anything.  He thoroughly enjoyed pranking his wife, including a time when he filled up her iPod with Celine Dion just to be ornery. He loved to embarrass his daughter with dance breaks in public or by wearing silly outfits to pick her up from school. His jokes extended far and wide, and many are either incriminating or inappropriate for print.  He was the type of guy who would buy a taco for a stranger and leave big tips for servers that were having a bad day.  He craved a simple life, and even at 46 he was already a grumpy old man.  If he were here today, he would tell you to wear a damn mask, wash your hands, be a gentleman and take your hat off indoors, and slow down when you drive past the house.

Brian is survived by his wife April, his daughter Jayna, 16, of the home, his son Stephen, 18, of Flippin, Arkansas, his father Donald Joe Hickman of Harrison, his sister Angela (Tad) Lawson of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, his brother Alan (Hannah) Hickman of Harrison, and his adored niece and nephews, Stewart Lawson and Ava, Amos, and Aslan Hickman. He is preceded in death by his nephew, Anthem Hickman, parents-in-law, Ken and Sandy Saxon and his grandparents, Horton and Ava Hickman and Geraldine and Cletus Whitt, all of Harrison.

Due to public health concerns, a service will not be held at this time. Family and friends will be invited to a semi-rowdy celebration of Brian’s life when it is safe to do so.  Please be prepared to bring the most hilarious stories you can find about Brian and to have a beer or two with all of those who loved him.
