Brent Tyrrell

November 27, 1941 — December 26, 2020

Brent Tyrrell

Brent Elliott Tyrrell, 79, of Little Rock passed away peacefully on December 26, 2020 with his family by his side. He was born November 27, 1941 in Greece, New York to Fred and June Tyrrell (nee Elliott).

Brent spent most of his adolescent and teenage years in southern Florida. He graduated from North Miami High School, where he was a competitive diver and swimmer, in 1959. He also attended The Ohio State University on a diving scholarship and graduated in 1964.

Brent moved to Columbus, Indiana where he was a salesman for Cummins Engine Company. In 1970, he moved with his wife, Lynda, and their two children to Little Rock, Arkansas and later opened Brent Tyrrell GMC, a GMC truck dealership on Interstate 30. He also served as president of the Arkansas Automobile Association.

In 1982, he and his wife Becky opened TLC Daily Rental on University Avenue and in 1995 moved the location to Chenal Parkway where they rented and leased vehicles to vacationers, churches, daycares, and anyone who needed temporary transportation. He thoroughly enjoyed visiting with customers from all over Arkansas until his retirement in 2015. He knew personal details about each of his customers, and went out of his way to ensure that they knew he would take care of them.

Brent enjoyed traveling, golfing, snow-skiing, and fishing with his friends, his brother Bruce, and favorite brother-in-law Jackie Brown. He loved the outdoors and the sun, and seemed to have a perpetual tan.

In his later years, Brent enjoyed having adventures with his kids and grandkids, regularly travelling to Chicago, Scottsdale, Florida, Ireland, Kansas City, and Nashville to vacation and attend sporting events with them. He also loved hosting his extended family at his house in Little Rock, where everyone ended up in the swimming pool, including the animals.

He is survived by his children, Michelle O’Hagan (Patrick) of Chicago, Jennifer Tyrrell of Scottsdale, and Heather Alexander (Kenny) of Little Rock; grandchildren, Ruairi and Liam O’Hagan, Casey Mitchell, and Brandon Alexander; former wife, loving friend, and caretaker, Becky Tyrrell; brother, Bruce Tyrrell (Colleen) and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Norma Tyrrell and Fred Tyrrell, Jr.
