Brenda Forga

Brenda Gaye Godbehere Forga, age 77, of Mount Ida, passed to her heavenly home Saturday, May 13, 2023.

She was born on November 19, 1945, to Ralph Godbehere and Lucille Parrish Godbehere.  She was a graduate of Mount Ida High School class of 1963.  She married Van Forga on January 11, 1964. 

Brenda was a member of Mount Ida First United Methodist Church.  Over the years Brenda worked at Scott Lumber Company, Deputy Tax Assessor for Montgomery County and the Bank of Montgomery Count, currently Farmer’s Bank and Trust, for 27 years.  After retirement, she devoted 10 years to the Montgomery County Food Pantry, and never hesitated to help anyone that was in need.  She was a board member on the Mount Ida Housing Authority, and for years she was “Lucy Locket” with her clown mission.   Brenda had many talents, but her sense of humor, her laugh, and countless stories will be greatly missed and never forgotten.  Her love of animals, especially her precious dogs, who were always loved and spoiled.

Brenda is preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Van Forga.  She is survived by her children: Vanessa (Bryan) Helmich of Wylie, Texas and Shane (Sandie) Forga of Mount Ida, Arkansas.  Her grandchildren: Victoria Helmich, Nicholas Helmich, Elizabeth Helmich, Katie (Taylor) Ochello, Luke Forga and a special great-granddaughter, Opal Marie Ochello.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Mount Ida First United Methodist Church, 243 Whittington Street, Mount Ida, Arkansas.

The family would like to express their thanks for the wonderful friends and family that cared for and helped Brenda during her time of need.

If desired, friends may make memorial contributions to the Montgomery County Food Pantry, 117 Ray Drive, Mount Ida, AR  71957.  

Cremation arrangements are under the care of Smith Family Funeral Home, Hot Springs.
