Brenda Brown

April 11, 1951 — March 28, 2025

Brenda Kaye Brown, 73, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2025, surrounded by her family. Brenda was born on April 11, 1951, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas to Bob and Carolyn Denton. Brenda was a beloved teacher known for her gentleness, kindness, and sense of humor. She touched countless lives as an elementary teacher and will be fondly remembered by hundreds of former students. Brenda was also a loving and faithful daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother.

Brenda was preceded in death by her mother, Carolyn Denton.

Brenda is survived by her husband, James Brown; her father Bob Denton; her sister Becky Mote; her daughters Jenny (Matt) Mitchell, and Cara (Matthew) Mayall; her stepchildren Kelli (Rick) Greathouse, Keri (Angelo) Bryant, and Joshua Brown. Survivors also include her grandchildren Kailey and Emily Mitchell, fur-baby Teddy Bear, Jonathan Elmore, Christina Hobgood, Jazlynne Wiggins, Desiree Cooper, Hailee Brown, Beth Brown, Hunter Brown, Kadie Brown, Jacob Brown, Asanti Bryant, and Akeem Bryant. She also had 9 great-grandchildren.

Throughout her life, Brenda exemplified what it means to have a servant's heart. She opened her home to many and sacrificed her time and talents, enriching the lives of others. She spent 30+ years as an elementary school teacher in which the majority were teaching kindergarten. She loved teaching and passed that love onto her daughters as they both became elementary teachers. Brenda loved animals. She loved her cats and loved to feed and watch birds. After retiring from teaching, she became a caregiver to her mother and father and later, her husband also. She gave of herself tirelessly and rarely if ever complained. She found great value in giving to others, often exhausting herself physically and financially in the process. She had a deep faith in Jesus Christ, and that was evident by the way she served others. Brenda loved Donald Trump and considered herself a true MAGA patriot. Brenda also had a great sense of humor and always brought laughter to any situation she was in. She had an unforgettable laugh that would always give her away. Brenda's presence on this earth will be sorely missed by many and the legacy of her faithfulness to her family will never be forgotten. Her family was her life, and her daughters were her best friends.

Sons-in-law Matthew Mayall and Matt Mitchell will officiate the service and close at graveside.

Brenda's granddaughters and the staff, doctors, and nurses at NPMC ICU will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be held Friday April 4, 2025, from 6-8pm at Smith Family Funeral Home in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
