Brenda Alkire

Brenda Joyce (Holt) Alkire, 69, passed away October 5, 2015 after a hard fought battle with cancer. She was born in Jackson, Tennessee on November 20, 1945 to William and Lillia (Gillespie) Holt.

Brenda was a member of East Union Missionary Baptist Church and her life's work was to take care of her family. She was one of God's most special creations, with a heart that gave love to whomever she met. She was so full of life and gave more love than she ever expected back.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a wonderful niece, Summer Littlefield, and a very special brother-in-law, Phillip Mitchell. Brenda is survived and grieved by her husband and friend since 1962, Darel Alkire; two sons, Bob Alkire (Kristine) and Rick Alkire Cotton (Rachel); stepson, Allen Alkire (Rachel); and stepdaughter, Nikki (Alkire) Henry. She is also survived by her most precious gifts in life, twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Her surviving siblings are Sandra Littlefield (Shelton, Sr.), Regina Mitchell, Opal Barnard (Archie), Donna Smith and William Holt, Jr., along with many special nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 7 from 6-8 p.m. at East Union Missionary Baptist Church, 20422 N. Springlake Rd., Hensley. Services will be Thursday, October 8 at 10:00 a.m. at the church, officiated by Rev. Paul Roberts. Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery at East End.
