It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bradley Allen Barnett, who left this world on August 28, 2024, to enter Heaven's gate to be with his Lord and Savior, at the age of 50. Born on September 27, 1973, in Little Rock, Arkansas, Brad was a loving husband, devoted father, and esteemed equipment mechanic, known for his remarkable ability to fix anything that came his way—a true jack of all trades.
Brad graduated from Benton High School in 1992. He thrived in his career, where his mechanical prowess and can-do attitude earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. He was a heavy equipment mechanic at McGeorge Contracting for many years before going to work at Sam Johnson Construction. Beyond his technical skills, Brad was a gentle giant whose caring nature touched everyone around him.
Family was Brad's greatest joy. He shared 18 beautiful years of marriage with his loving wife, Rhonda Barnett, and together they forged a life filled with love, laughter, and warmth. Their son, Trey Dylan Barnett, was the light of his life, and Brad took immense pride in nurturing and guiding him. He cherished his role as a family man.
Brad found solace in nature. He often said it wasn't just about shooting that big buck, he just loved being in nature. He said this made him feel the closest to God. He loved cutting wood, which he learned from his Pa, not just as a practical need to keep his family warm during the winter, but also as a cherished stress reliever. The peacefulness of being outdoors allowed him to reflect and connect with the world around him. His adventurous spirit led him on countless trips to their cabins in Eureka Springs with Rhonda, where they forged unforgettable memories. Brad's love for hunting and fishing provided him not only with a connection to nature but also cherished moments with family and friends.
He was surrounded by the love of many, including his parents, Shelby and Linda Barnett, and his sister, Tina DeLay and her husband Randy. He is also mourned by his stepsister, Dr. Kaitlyn Eubanks, and his beloved niece and nephew, Tyler and Kaylee DeLay. His extensive network of aunts and uncles, including Cleva Michael, Linda (John) Howell, Tim (Sheila) Barnett, and Bobby Dale Barnett, along with his great-aunt, Flora Reich Brown, ensured that Bradley was always enveloped in family love. He also leaves behind his dear sisters-in-law, Judy Smith and Bernice Mabry, mother-in-law, Debbie Mabry, who will miss his kind soul dearly, and his best friend, Derek Houpt, who was like a brother to him. As well as countless extended family and friends.
Brad is preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Vester and Betty Barnett, and his caring father-in-law and mother-in-law, E.J. and Rosie Mabry. He also joins his aunts, Sharon Clark and Carla Miller, in peaceful rest.
The legacy that Brad leaves behind is one of love, laughter, and unwavering support for his family. His presence will be felt at the services held in his honor. A visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Smith Benton Funeral Home in Benton. A funeral service, officiated by Dr. Rick Grant, will take place on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Ten Mile Missionary Baptist Church in Lonsdale. He will be laid to rest at Ten Mile Cemetery, ensuring that his spirit remains forever intertwined with the land he cherished. Donations may be made to the Ten Mile Cemetery.
As we bid farewell to Bradley Allen Barnett, let us carry forward his legacy of love and resilience, remembering the warmth of his spirit and the countless lives he touched. He may have departed this world, but he will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
