Bobby Lee "Bob" Walloch, 81 was born June 3, 1934 to Fred Walloch and Gladys (Daughenbaugh) Walloch in Little Rock. He departed this life August 8, 2015. His four week stay in intensive care at UAMS brought him full circle to the place where he launched his career in the 1950s as a medical photographer.
A 1952 graduate of Little Rock High School (now Central High), he served as school photographer for the PIX yearbook.
Bob was an entrepreneur, a phenomenal inventor of such products as the disco strobe, and an accomplished photographer. He was the first professional color photographer in Arkansas to have his own color darkroom, located first in his garage, then moved to the Tower Building. Thus began his professional career. Governor Rockefeller's office was on the top floor and he soon recruited Bob's expertise as his official photographer. Bob was commissioned to take the governor's official portrait which hung in the State Capitol rotunda.
From photography, his disco strobe light box, synchronized to music, was born. He formed Zipcom Corporation, making numerous trips to Japan where the units were manufactured by Sun-Pak in Tokyo and sold to disco night clubs in the U.S.
At the age of 16, Bob earned a student pilot license. He enlisted in the military during the Korean War as a member of the Arkansas Air National Guard, where he was a photographic technician and aerial photographic analyst, and retired in the late 1950s as Master Sergeant.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, son, Kim Walloch, and brother, Freddy Walloch. He is survived by son, Robert Walloch; daughter, Sandra Synar of Maui, Hawaii; grandchildren, Michael Walloch (Caren) of Little Rock, Echo Abbate (Raffaele) of Leivi, Italy, Jesse Sibley (Dory) of Arezzo, Italy and Sasha Warren (Justin) of Chicago, Illinois; and great-grandchildren, Zachary Walloch, Sophia Walloch, Elisabetta Sibley, and Isabeau Abbate; nieces, Gail Fisher and Becky Walloch and nephew, Rusty Walloch and many cousins.
Bob's family is eternally grateful to his team of doctors and nurses on H-4 at UAMS for attempting so valiantly to save Bob.
