Bob Ray Gay

Bob R. Gay started his journey in Newport, AR 87 years ago to Jess and Nola Gay and on Friday, December 6 left North Little Rock for a greater stage.

 He meandered across most of the South as a Disc Jockey and Teacher with his wife of 65 years, Jeanette. They found each other in Marion, Alabama and along the way had 3 delightful children Russ (wife Linda & son Chris), Cheryl Tittle (husband Leland, sons Caleb & Jeremiah, daughter Sarah) and Karen Williams (daughter Ashley & son James).

 Bob filled life with laughs, music and daring occupational choices starting with playing trumpet in the Silver Moon Club, frequent MC for television dance parties and concerts, writing 3 published novels, driving a truck, antiques dealer but his heart was fullest being a mentor to many young people from family, school and church. 

Bob spoiled Jeanette with pottery he repaired, many of which he had broken, played Willie Nelson too loud, restored beautiful furniture and usually with an audience on the sunporch, critiqued the awful radio shows on today. 

Come help us celebrate this delightful man Thursday December 12 at 10:30 am Smith Funeral Home, 1921 Main St. NLR.

 The family requests in lieu of flowers to contribute to Samaritan’s Purse, Alzheimer’s Foundation or St Jude Hospital. Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM, followed by a funeral at 11:30 AM, Thursday, December 12th, at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park. 

Pallbearers include: Jeremiah Christich, Caleb Chistich, Leland Tittle, Chris Gay and James Williams.
