Bo Hu, a beloved husband, father, brother, and esteemed academic, passed away unexpectedly on October 22, 2023. He was born on January 7, 1964, in Jilin, China, to Hanyu Hu and Yuqin Wang. He is survived by his wife Lihong Han, whom he was married to for 32 years, their daughter Shanshan Hu, and his brother Ming Hu. Bo's journey through life was filled with passion, dedication, and a spirit of kindness towards all those around him.
Bo's academic journey began at Northeast Normal University in Changchun, China, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics. Continuing his pursuit of knowledge, he obtained a Master's degree in Genetics from the same university, followed by a Ph.D. in Cell Biology. Bo further expanded his horizons by completing a Master's degree in Mathematical Sciences at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
Throughout his career, Bo was a true scholar who excelled in various fields. He began his professional journey as a teaching professor at Northeast Normal University in China. Later on, he ventured into the field of scientific research at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. His pursuit of knowledge and expertise led him to work as a statistician at General Dynamic, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, and the Department of Veteran Affairs, respectively.
Bo was known for his calm demeanor and modest personality. He exhibited exceptional kindness and generosity towards his family and friends, always putting others before himself. Bo possessed an incredible intelligence that allowed him to quickly grasp new concepts and skills with ease.
Family was of paramount importance to Bo, who cherished spending quality time with his family and friends above all else. A generous soul, he consistently put their needs above his own.
Bo had a range of captivating hobbies and interests. He enjoyed playing the erhu, a traditional Chinese musical instrument, which he acquired the skill to play all on his own. Additionally, he often took long walks around the neighborhood to clear his mind and nurture his well-being. Bo was also an aspiring chef, constantly seeking new recipes to experiment with and sharing his delectable creations with friends and family. He had a green thumb and tended lovingly to plants, flowers, and a flourishing vegetable garden.
To honor Bo's life, a visitation will take place on Friday, November 3, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Smith Family Funeral Home in Little Rock, Arkansas. The funeral service will be immediately after the visitation, starting at 11:00 AM and concluding at 12:00 PM at the same location. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park.
