Blake "Johnny" Johnson age 87 of Alpine formerly of Edmond, OK died Friday, December 5, 2008 in Arkadelphia. He was born March 4, 1921 in Amity, AR the son of James Walter and Delia J. Hickman Johnson. He was a retired aircraft maintenance technician, service station owner, oilfield derrick man, auto mechanic, worked in copper mines and built and raced modified stock cars. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Elmer Johnson, one sister Margie Herrington, two sons, James Earl "Jimmy" Johnson and Blake Johnson Jr., one son-in-law Robert Pelt and one grandson Alan Pelt.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Johnson, two daughters, Delia M. Patterson of Edmond, OK and Claudia Pelt of Inola, OK, two sisters-in-law, Charlene Johnson of Kirby, AR and Ilene Wilde of Oklahoma City, and a brother-in-law Robert Gordon of IL, 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be in the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia from 2-6 P.M. Saturday, December 6, 2008. Graveside funeral services will be 2 P.M. Tuesday, December 9, 2008 in the Grace Lawn Cemetery in Edmond, OK.
