Billy J. "B.J." Spears

September 6, 1938 — March 23, 2025

Pearcy, AR

Billy Joe (B.J.) Spears was born September 6, 1938 in Moro, AR and departed this life March 23, 2025 in Montgomery County, AR at the of age 86.

B.J. is predeceased by his mother and father, Huey and Flora Bell Spears; and brothers, Jimmy Spears, Marvin Spears, and Jessie Arnett.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Beulah Fay Spears; three daughters, Susan Anderson (Dennis) of Royal, AR, Charlette Mason (Paul) of Pearcy, AR, and Belinda Boyer (Don) of Junction City, KS; nine grandchildren, Dennis Lee Anderson II (Fionna) of Fort Smith, AR, Erica O'Connell (Kenneth) of Jonesboro, AR, Christin Culberson (Will) of Royal, AR, Jeremy Mason (Sally) of Pearcy, AR, Brittany Simmons of Fountain Lake, AR, Natalie Cloud (Kevin), of Hot Springs, AR, Anna Boyer of Junction City, KS, Weston Boyer of Junction City, KS, and Austin Boyer (Sarah) of Junction City, KS, as well as nine great-grandchildren.

B. J. Spears modeled hard work. He grew up a sharecropper picking cotton as a child in east Arkansas for a quarter a day. He sold insurance. He built a chain of retail stores. He owned a car dealership. He farmed, sold burial spaces and portable buildings. He was a national guardsman. There isn’t much he didn’t do. It’s difficult to overvalue things learned working along side him in any capacity whether in the businesses, on the farm, selling insurance or portable buildings, building physical churches, or serving the local church. It has been said Micah 6:8 depicts his life. “He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; And what doth the Lord require of thee, But to do justly, and to love mercy, And to walk humbly with thy God?” (KJV)

He modeled faithfulness. He and Fay were married for 66 years, and only death parted them. He modeled investment in the kingdom of God. Churches dot the map in towns across the Midwest and South that the two of them have helped financially or otherwise. He also helped build a church in Mexico.

He loved his family deeply and was proud of all his kids, grandkids and great grands. Everything he did was for his family and with them in mind.
