Billy Joe Smith also known by many as “Pa” passed from this earth on July 11, 2022. He was born to Pearl and Elmer Smith on December 13, 1930 in North Little Rock, AR. He retired from the North Little Rock School District after being a loyal employee for 17 years. Bill also served as a Corporal in the Marines during the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family most of all. Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church, Sherwood. He was also a member of the Armstead Mountain Deer Club for 42 years.
He was married to Virginia Smith for 55 years. After her passing, he married Nancy Elliott where he gained 4 more children and many more grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother-in-law Floyd and Nancy Burnett, his brothers Jim and Odell Smith, his sister, Marie Spann, and a son Gary Elliott, and a host of other family and friends.
He leaves behind his wife of 15 years, Nancy, 4 sons, Danny (Cindi), Tim (Jeannie), Rick (Sheila), Danny (Paulette), 2 daughters, LuAnn, Donna (Bill), daughter-in-law, Mia; 17 grandchildren, Wendi (Kevin) Blanton, Joseph (Crystal) Francis, Katie (Mitchell) Colker, Morgan Smith, Amanda (Derrick) Sweeden, Madison Smith, Zac (Sarah) Elliott, Kirsten (Mason) Gates, Kendyl (Dayton) Roberts, Brandon (Carmencita) Elliott, Leah (Eric) Vance, Brandon Butler, Kameron Butler, Amanda Stansbury, Kayla Carter, Ashleigh Batte, and David (Sadie) Batte; and 16 great-grandchildren, Bailey (Hunter) Francis, Hailey Francis, Kailey Jo Francis, Layla Blanton, Ethan Blanton, Hannah Blanton, Sarah Sweeden, Jackson Colker, Abby Elliott, Emma Elliott, Cami Elliott, Jake Elliott, Chasidy Lankford, Ashtin Lankford, Elijah Stansbury, Preslee Stansbury, Tristan Watkins, and Marley Watkins. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM, followed by a Funeral at 11:30 AM, Monday, July 18, 2022 at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will follow at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.
