Billy Mathis

Billy Morris Mathis, Sr., 86, of Benton, Arkansas passed away December 2, 2019. He was born January 3, 1933 in Snowball, Arkansas to the late William Riley and Hattie Mae (Weaver) Mathis.
Billy was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War era. Billy retired from G.C. Evans after working over forty years. In his younger years, Billy was active in basketball and physical fitness. He also worked as an aviation mechanic. Billy enjoyed spending time playing pool, working on cars and is known to be able to fix anything.
Preceding Billy in death are his wife, Edith Lenora Mathis; infant daughter, Kelly Elaine Mathis; parents; and two sisters: Rose Damph and Bonnie West.
He is survived by three sons: Billy Mathis, Jr. and wife Malissa, Stacy Mathis and girlfriend Jennifer Stehle, and Shawn Mathis and wife Jamie; grandchildren: Crystal Mathis and husband Chris, Riley Mathis, Jacob Robertson, Jessica Robertson, Piper Mathis, Makayla Mathis, and Cory Mathis and wife Alexis; great-grandchildren: Harper Jones and Silas Moore Mathis; sisters-in-law: Jo Campbell and Wanda Archer; and numerous nieces and nephews, family members, and friends who love Billy and will miss him always.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Friday, December 6, at Smith-Benton Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 7 at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
