Billy Lewis Carter, age 71, of Nashville, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2020. He was born on October 6, 1948 in Norman, the son of Ben Carter and Fay Short Carter. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bennie Lee Carter and Don Warren Carter; four sisters, Macie June Carter, Patricia Jean Summitt, Tammy Yvonne Williams Moore and Mary Lou Denton; and two nephews, David Romero and Brian Denton. Billy was loved by his entire family, especially his devoted parents. He was known as a very loving and caring person who never met a stranger. He was a Baptist in his faith. He is survived by two sisters and four brothers-in-law, Allie Mae and Artis Lee Graves of Glenwood and Effie Fay and Joseph Romero of Taos, New Mexico, Edward Summitt of Norman and Ross Moore of Texarkana, Arkansas; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Private services will be held with Bro. Jeremy Graves officiating. Interment will be in Nelson Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Mike Graves, Gene Graves, Bobby Graves, Micah Graves, Gary Graves and Benny Parker. Honorary pallbearers will be Mathew Graves and the nurses and staff of Community Compassion Center of Nashville and the nurses and staff of Dierksen Hospice. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
