Bill Driggers, age 78, of Pearcy, passed away Thursday, December 2, 2021, at CHI St. Vincent’s Hospital in Hot Springs.
He was born on July 17, 1943, the son of Austin and Carrie Johnson Driggers. Bill was married to Etha, who he lovingly referred to as his “first wife”, on July 26, 1963, and they enjoyed 58 years together! He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, A.J. Driggers, James Driggers and Gerald Driggers; one sister, Ima Jean Rickner; one nephew, Tim Driggers; and one niece, Darla Driggers.
Bill worked in the delivery business for Carter Dairy, Coleman Dairy, Pepsi and Frito Lay, but his passion was being a horseman which led to his career as a farrier for over forty years. He passed along his love and knowledge of farriering to his grandsons who loved following in their Poppy’s footsteps. Bill was a member of Center Fork Baptist Church for over thirty years where he served as usher and greeter. Bill’s proudest moments were when he became “Poppy” to Seth Driggers and Britt Driggers and great-grandpa to Tyler-Grace Driggers. He was their greatest encourager and fan!
He is survived by his wife, Etha Lewis Driggers; his son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Lisa Driggers; two grandsons and one granddaughter-in-law, Seth Driggers and Britt and Kassie Driggers; one great-granddaughter, Tyler-Grace Driggers, all of Pearcy; his brother, Carl Driggers of Glenwood, his sister and brother-in-law, Sue and R.D. Hale of Glenwood; two sisters-in-law, JoNell Driggers of Pearcy and Anita Love of Glenwood; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, church family and friends.
