Billy Charles Kirksey, age 84, of Amity, passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2018. He was born on November 5, 1933 in Amity, the son of John Leonard Kirksey and Myrtie Roberts Kirksey. On January 25, 1957, he was married to Francille Jester Kirksey who preceded him in death on February 17, 2017. He was a United States Air Force veteran. After getting his Bachelors degree in chemistry, he worked as a chemist for the Reynolds Metals Patterson Plant, later Alcoa Metals, for over 40 years. He was an active member of the Amity United Methodist Church and served as church treasurer for 25 years. Active in the community, he served as a Clark County Justice of the Peace, a member of the Patterson Credit Union board of directors, Amity School Board and Alpine Water Authority Board. He enjoyed working on the farm and gardening. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Nan Kirksey of Amity and Barry and Cheryl Kirksey of Hot Springs; four grandchildren, Kathryn Speights and her husband, Sloan, John Brian Kirksey, Hunter Kirksey and Asher Kirksey; and his brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Jo Ann Kirksey of Point Cedar. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, July 18, 2018, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. Glen Harris officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, 1:00 PM until service time, at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Alpine. Pallbearers will be Wayne Arnold, Steve Arnold, Danny Jewel, Sloan Speights, Hunter Kirksey, Asher Kirksey and John Brian Kirksey.
